Mass Driver

Mass Driver explores how a payload launched from the Moon could reach Earth. The Luna Vector simulator lets users adjust launch speed, direction, rail length and payload mass, then follow the resulting trajectory towards a selected destination. Atmospheric entry and circular Earth orbit modes offer different mission scenarios, while auto-aim, playback and live equations connect the controls to the model. Results show flight time, arrival conditions, launch energy and rail acceleration. It is an interactive way to explore orbital mechanics and the tradeoffs involved in a lunar mass driver.
